Japanize-me : France-Japan mentoring project

Japan’s population is aging and young Europeans are particularly interested in Japanese culture, not just the manga and cosplay but also the more traditional values around discipline, respect and zen, or more specifically the combination of the two : high-tech and traditions. Despite being a culture closed to the gaijin (the foreigner), couldn’t Japan benefit from the “japanization” of young volunteers to guarantee the continuity of its culture ? Also mentoring has proved to be a good method to transmit culture and accompany socialisation.

I am therefore launching on the web this idea of inter-cultural mentoring between France (and other countries where youth is attracted by Japan) and Japan. To implement such a project, I can’t do it alone, so I am calling upon the goodwill of our web community through this blog. We will need Universities, being business, engineering or arts schools etc. as well as a Japanese seniors association. To match mentors to young people we will create on the net a matching interface and we will need the support of some Japanese institutions. To enable a good functioning of this approach we will create a framework that can be designed following the results of my research on inter-organisational mentoring.
